小笠原諸島視察旅記
4日目 - 捕獲器製作と講義
2006年8月21日
朝5時、Sさんは調査に行くが、僕は行かずにすやすや（←何しに来たんだ）。14時まで自由だったので、宮ノ浜に行く（泳がず）。換羽中なのか尾のないウグイスがいた。帰ってから捕獲網作りの手伝い。網打ちがものっそ面倒。終わりかけのところでスコールが降ってきたので休んでいたら、社長に声を掛けられて戦争や社会についてなど1時間くらい話した。結構勉強になる話だったし、ただの愚痴ではなくてちゃんと筋が通っていたのでちょっと感心してしまった。さすが社長。硫黄島の戦争について書かれた本を借りた。17時ごろ調査に向かう。
帰ってから、夜にゆっくり出来るのは今日までだということで、外食。別の所に行きましょう、と提案するも結局いつものところに落ち着く。カメ料理などを堪能。うまい。隣の席には大学で助教授をしているというLさんが。文化の調査に来たそうだ。いろいろ話したけれど酔っているらしく、社長ほど筋の通った話ではなかった。でも酔っているのになにやら仕事していた。Lさんは途中で帰ったが、お店の人との話が弾み、僕らは23時ごろまでいた。帰ってから2時前まで社長に借りた硫黄島の本を読んで就寝。
